Quick Enquiry

    Bunker Fuel Testing

PEAS – Bunker Fuel testing provides information invaluable in preventing breakdowns caused by inferior fuel quality. A breakdown at sea could severely endanger the ship and cause great expense in repair of equipment and loss of business. Fuel oil analysis protects shipping companies by forewarning them of fuel-related troubles, and independently documents fuel quality. PEAS – Bunker fuel confirms to ISO 8217 quality standards.

    Density and API Gravity

Volume of fuel received and for selecting the correct size gravity disc for the purifiers and for the determination of calorific value of fuel.

    Viscosity

Viscosity testing determines the preheating temperature required.

    Water

Fuel with a high water content will burn less efficiently.

    Carbon Residue

A high carbon residue will increase the likelihood of deposit formation.

    Sulfur

High sulfur represents a loss of fuel efficiency and may cause corrosion.

    Total Sediment

Contamination by dirt, rust or other inorganic matter is shown as total sediment.

    Ash

Sodium, Vanadium, and catalytic fines are incombustible impurities found in fuel oil.

    Vanadium and Sodium

3 parts vanadium to 1 part sodium can cause corrosion on exhaust valves.

    Aluminum and Silicon

Cause of wear in cylinders and fuel system components. Silicon indicates dirt.

    Lead, Phosphorus, Calcium, and Zinc

Lead, Phosphorus, Calcium, and Zincare indicators of the presence of waste lubricating oil (adulterated). Iron and nickel will indicate presence of catalysts carried over.

    Flash Point

Lowest temperature at which the vapors will ignite with a flash
